Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what personal information The Adventure Institute collects, why, and the choices you have. The Adventure Institute is a DBA of Tam Global Ventures LLC, 1148 NW Leary Way, Seattle, WA 98107 (“we,” “us”).
The short version
- We collect only what we need: mainly a grown-up’s name and email address, and the details needed to process a purchase.
- We don’t ask for children’s names or any information that identifies a child.
- We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising.
- You can unsubscribe, ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it at any time.
Who this policy is for
Our website and adventures are for parents and other adults. Purchases, sign-ups and messages must come from an adult. Our adventures are made for children to enjoy with a grown-up, but children don’t use our website to give us information.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Your contact details: your name (if you give it) and email address, when you buy an adventure, sign up for a free adventure or our newsletter, or contact us.
- Your child’s age group: when you sign up for a free adventure, we ask which age group your child is in (4–5, 6–7 or 8–10), so we can send the right adventure. We don’t ask for a child’s name, birth date, photo or any other information about them.
- Your choices: whether you agreed to our Terms, and whether you’d like marketing emails.
- Messages: anything you choose to include when you email or contact us.
Purchase information
Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment details directly. We receive your name, email address, what you bought and the amount, but never your full card number.
Listening information
Your adventures are delivered through our audio partner, Hello Audio. Each family gets a private link, so Hello Audio can show us basic information about your link, such as whether you’ve added the show to a podcast app and how often episodes have been accessed. We use this to deliver what you bought, help if something isn’t working and handle swaps or refunds. We can’t see what happens in your home or outdoors.
Website information
When you visit our website, we and our analytics provider (Google Analytics) may collect information such as pages visited, the type of device and browser, approximate location (city or region), and how the website is used, for example when an audio preview is played. Analytics only runs if you agree to it in our cookie banner.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- deliver the adventures you buy or sign up for;
- process payments, swaps and refunds;
- reply to your messages and help when something isn’t working;
- send marketing emails, only if you said yes (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- understand how our website is used, so we can improve it;
- protect our customers and our business, prevent misuse of private links, and meet our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run The Adventure Institute, and only so they can do that job:
- Stripe: payments
- Hello Audio: delivering your private audio feed
- MailerLite: sign-ups and emails
- Zapier: connecting our payment, email and audio services
- Google Analytics: website analytics (only with your consent)
- Our website host: running our website
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our legal rights, or if our business is sold or reorganized. In that case, this policy would still protect your information.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising.
Cookies
Our website uses a few cookies and similar technologies. Some are needed for the website to work. Others, like analytics cookies, are only used if you agree in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie settings link, or block cookies in your browser.
Children’s privacy
Our adventures are made for children to enjoy with a grown-up. We’ve kept what we collect about children to a minimum and put you, the parent or guardian, in control.
- We only collect personal information from adults. Purchases, sign-ups and messages are for parents and guardians only. If we learn that a child has signed up or bought something, we’ll cancel it and delete their information.
- The only thing we ask about your child is their age group, and only so we can send the right free adventure. We don’t ask for a child’s name, birth date, photo, voice or any other information that identifies them.
- Listening information is linked to your email address, not to your child.
- We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or a higher age where the law requires it). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
- You can ask us at any time to show you or delete the age group you gave us.
A grown-up should be with children whenever they use our adventures.
Your choices and rights
- Marketing emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact us.
- Access, correction or deletion: contact us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. If you delete your information, we’ll also remove your access to your adventures.
- Cookies: change your cookie choices at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local law. We’ll respond to requests as the law where you live requires.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it to provide our adventures, keep you on our mailing list (until you unsubscribe), handle refunds and support, and meet legal and tax requirements. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.
Keeping it safe
We use trusted service providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No website or online service can be completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your personal information, we’ll notify you as required by law.
Where your information is stored
We’re based in the United States, and our service providers may store information in the US and other countries. Where information is transferred, it’s protected as described in this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make important changes, we’ll tell you by email if we have your address, or with a notice on our website.
