Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This policy explains what personal information The Adventure Institute collects, why, and the choices you have. The Adventure Institute is a DBA of Tam Global Ventures LLC, 1148 NW Leary Way, Seattle, WA 98107 (“we,” “us”).

The short version

  • We collect only what we need: mainly a grown-up’s email address, and, once paid adventures are available, the details needed to process a purchase.
  • We don’t ask anything about your child.
  • We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising.
  • You can unsubscribe, ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it at any time.

Who this policy is for

Our website and adventures are for parents and other adults. Sign-ups, purchases and messages must come from an adult. Our adventures are made for children to enjoy with a grown-up, but children don’t use our website to give us information.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Your email address, when you unlock our free adventures, ask to hear when an adventure is ready, or sign up for our newsletter in the form at the bottom of our website.
  • Your email choices: whether you ticked the box to receive our monthly email and news, and whether you asked to hear when a particular adventure is ready.
  • Your name and message, if you choose to include them when you contact us.
  • Your answers to one-tap questions in our emails, such as how your family liked an adventure, if you choose to answer.

Our emails

When you unlock our free adventures, we send you one email with your link to them, so you can open them on another device. We only send you more (a few welcome emails, one outdoor idea for your family each month, and news when new adventures are ready) if you tick the box on the form or sign up with our newsletter form. If you ask us to tell you when an adventure is ready, we’ll email you when it is. Our email service, MailerLite, tells us whether an email was delivered, opened or clicked, so we can improve our emails and stop sending to addresses that don’t work. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.

Purchase information (once paid adventures are available)

Payments will be handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment details directly. We receive your name, email address, what you bought and the amount, but never your full card number.

Listening information (once paid adventures are available)

Purchased adventures will be delivered through our audio partner, Hello Audio, as a private show in your podcast app. Hello Audio can show us basic information about your private link, such as whether you’ve added the show to a podcast app and how often episodes have been accessed. We use this to deliver what you bought, help if something isn’t working and handle swaps or refunds. We can’t see what happens in your home or outdoors.

Website information

When you visit our website, we and our analytics provider (Google Analytics) may collect information such as pages visited, buttons clicked, whether an audio adventure was played and for how long, the type of device and browser, approximate location (city or region), and the website or link that brought you to us. Google Analytics only uses cookies if you agree in our cookie banner; until then it receives only limited information without cookies.

On your device

When you unlock our free adventures, our website saves a small note in your browser’s storage on that device, so you don’t have to sign up again next time. It contains no personal information and isn’t sent to us. Clearing your browser’s data for our website removes it. Links in our emails can unlock the free adventures on another device in the same way.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • unlock and deliver the free adventures you sign up for, and, once available, the adventures you buy;
  • send you the link to your free adventures;
  • send our monthly email and news, only if you ticked the box or signed up for our newsletter (you can unsubscribe at any time);
  • tell you when an adventure you asked about is ready;
  • reply to your messages and help when something isn’t working;
  • process payments, swaps and refunds, once paid adventures are available;
  • understand how our website and emails are used, so we can improve them;
  • protect our customers and our business, prevent misuse, and meet our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run The Adventure Institute, and only so they can do that job:

  • MailerLite: sign-ups and emails
  • Google Analytics: website analytics (cookies only with your consent)
  • WPConsent: our cookie banner, which records your cookie choices
  • Our website host: running our website and storing sign-up form submissions
  • Stripe: payments (once paid adventures are available)
  • Hello Audio: delivering your private audio show (once paid adventures are available)
  • Zapier: connecting our payment, email and audio services (once paid adventures are available)

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our legal rights, or if our business is sold or reorganized. In that case, this policy would still protect your information.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising. We don’t send your email address to Google or any advertising service.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses a few cookies and similar technologies. Some are needed for the website to work, including remembering your cookie choice and your free-adventure unlock. Analytics cookies are only used if you agree in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie settings link, or block cookies in your browser.

Children’s privacy

Our adventures are made for children to enjoy with a grown-up. We’ve kept what we collect to a minimum and put you, the parent or guardian, in control.

  • We only collect personal information from adults. Sign-ups, purchases and messages are for parents and guardians only. If we learn that a child has signed up or bought something, we’ll cancel it and delete their information.
  • We don’t ask anything about your child: no name, age, birth date, photo, voice or anything else that identifies them.
  • Listening and sign-up information is linked to your email address, not to your child.
  • We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or a higher age where the law requires it). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

A grown-up should be with children whenever they use our adventures.

If you’re in the EU, the UK or Switzerland

We are the controller of your personal information. We rely on these legal bases:

  • Your consent for our monthly email and news, and for analytics cookies. You can withdraw it at any time, without affecting what we did before.
  • Providing what you asked for (performance of a contract) for unlocking free adventures, sending your link, telling you when an adventure you asked about is ready, and, once available, delivering purchases.
  • Our legitimate interests for keeping our website secure, preventing misuse and understanding, in general terms, how our website is used.
  • Legal obligations for tax and accounting records.

You have the right to access, correct, delete or move your information, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Some of our service providers are in the United States; where your information is transferred there, we rely on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Your choices and rights

  • Emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact us.
  • Access, correction or deletion: contact us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. If you delete your information, we’ll also remove your access to any adventures you bought.
  • Cookies: change your cookie choices at any time.

Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local law. We’ll respond to requests as the law where you live requires.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it to provide our adventures, keep you on our mailing list (until you unsubscribe), handle refunds and support, and meet legal and tax requirements. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Keeping it safe

We use trusted service providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No website or online service can be completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your personal information, we’ll notify you as required by law.

Where your information is stored

We’re based in the United States, and our service providers may store information in the US and other countries. Where information is transferred, it’s protected as described in this policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when paid adventures become available. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make important changes, we’ll tell you by email if we have your address, or with a notice on our website.
